Greetings from Vienna!

Last winter we made plans to join Claus Jahnke for show at the Jewish Museum in Vienna. Historical clothing from Claus Jahnke’s collection of Austrian Jewish pre-war clothing were included in the display.

The photos I took of his collection that were used in the display were also used in the catalog Buy From Jews! Story of a Viennese store culture

The opening night was special with many of Claus' friends from around the world. Plus the President and Vice President of Austria.

Our Social Fabric - 'Giving Textiles a second life'

Our Social Fabric (OSF) is a textile recycling initiative that has been in operation since 2009. In October 2015 we closed our storefront on Hastings Street and prepared to re-locate with our non-profit partners, Common Thread and Craftworks.

OSF receives donations of textiles, fabric left and sewing related supplies from the film industry, theatre, manufacturing, estate closures together with home sewers and artists. Our team of volunteers sort through the donations and offer them back to the community at drastically reduced prices. Our goal is to keep textiles out of the landfill and into the hands of crafters, sewers and artists in our community.

Check out the article in the Georgia Straight that used my photograph.

This one is a special place he found at 31st and Pine with the tracks curving towards the North Shore mountains in the distance.

Thanks again to Daniel and Henry at The Sign Place for their guidance and help in printing this gigantic file.
